Here is my latest attempt at altering the main character design as well as making a better logo/title than the one from last week. It’s a work in progress and one I’m happy to tackle in my free time. Thanks to everyone who has been giving me positive feedback. Looks like I’ll definitely be pushing forward with ArmE of One!

ArmE of One

Having gotten some feedback on last week’s introductory post for ArmE of One, I’d like to clarify that the main character’s name is pronounced “Army” and is spelled with a long “e” at the end. It’s a pun on the phrase “Army of One” which is a further allusion to how kick-butt the character is (pretty clever, eh?).

This work will be different from how the Just Joel webcomic is produced in that it’ll be original artwork colored in Photoshop. As opposed to the comic strip being original artwork that is traced over in Illustrator. Although I still much prefer the overall control, artistic cleanliness and limitless ability to edit the size of the work that Illustrator offers, I do often lament Just Joel’s inability to have that hand rendered look. The brush strokes, line widths and slight imperfections are a quality within themselves that I’ll be capturing with ArmE. More updates to follow as they come.

…now if I could only figure out how to stop time…
