The only time I ever got picked first as a kid was when all the boys decided to play the win, lose or draw board game at a sleep over. Good times. Err… good time as it were.
This is the second appearance of this particular resident. There’s an outside chance that he’ll be appearing again since he seems to be such a foil for Just Joel. Check out this resident’s original appearance here.
Beyond the memories of school-sponsored easter egg hunts, jelly beans and the uncomfortable church clothes, Easter holds a special place in my heart for another reason: sequential design. One Easter morning long ago (I don’t remember specifically which), I awoke to find an Easter basket loaded with, not only an assortment of candy, but also four Batman comic books. I’d probably seen comic books before, but these were the first that belonged to me.
I remember being disinterested in the comic books as it took years for me to actually read them. But slowly over time I began to find my natural tendency to doodle slowly find a kinship with comic books which would obviously eventually extend to comic strips. It’s interesting to me that it all can be traced back to what an Easter basket once held for me.

In addition to these games I recall a few variations on tag including TV Tag, Freeze Tag and Chinese Freeze Tag. Other games I fondly remember are Dodge Ball, Hot Box, Red Light/Green Light, Spanking Machine and Mother May I. All of these games usually somehow involved this big Green Electric Transformer that was always warm and served as the “safe base”. No doubt it’ll likely show up in the comic strip at some point.
